Where it comes from
Datum is adapted from the flagship template of resumake.io, the free, privacy-preserving résumé generator Saad Quadri built in 2017 (it predates Jake's Resume by three years). Resumake let you fill a form and get clean LaTeX out; the project has since been retired, but its MIT-licensed templates live on as open source.
The flagship is the traditional one: a centered small-caps name, small-cap section headers underlined by a rule, dates set to the right. Datum keeps that formal, conservative feel, the kind of résumé that reads well in finance and other traditional industries.

How it parses
Single-column and text-only, so it parses cleanly. Its formality suits traditional industries without sacrificing machine-readability.
